Objective:
The client sought to expand their reach to readers across Tamil Nadu. Prior to the project, orders were managed manually via WhatsApp, Facebook, and other platforms, making it difficult to track order statuses and customer details efficiently. They also wanted to tap into the growing demand for e-books and audiobooks, particularly from modern young readers, by offering a streamlined solution to sell physical books, e-books, and audiobooks on their website.
2. Challenges
One of the major challenges was to ensure that e-books and audiobooks were only accessible to customers who had purchased them. The client wanted a secure system where users who hadn’t bought the product would be redirected to the product page instead of gaining unauthorized access. Additionally, the flipbook PDFs and audiobooks needed to be protected against direct downloads or circumvention via browser tools such as the inspect element or network options. The goal was to offer content that could only be read or listened to online within a controlled environment, preserving the security of digital assets.

Design:
The design approach focused on a clean, user-friendly interface that ensured easy navigation for both first-time visitors and returning customers. The branding reflected the essence of ilakkiyacholai, a store deeply rooted in Tamil literature. Custom graphics and a consistent color scheme helped reinforce brand identity. The layout was optimized for mobile responsiveness, ensuring a seamless shopping experience on all devices.
Development:
The website was built using WordPress with WooCommerce for the e-commerce functionalities. Several notable plugins were integrated to achieve the required features:

- MP3 Audio Player by Sonaar for streaming audiobooks.
- Variation Swatches for WooCommerce to enhance the product selection experience.
- Razorpay for secure payment gateway integration.

Custom code was implemented to control access to e-books and audiobooks, ensuring that only verified purchasers could view or listen to the content. Non-purchasers were redirected to the respective product pages. The digital content was shielded from being downloaded via direct methods or browser tools. Additionally, the site was optimized for speed and SEO to enhance user experience and visibility in search engines.
